The relationship between all three parts of the formula is multiplicity. Since the form is the sum of efforts of motivation, performance, outcomes, and valence, it is emphasized that the employees will not be motivated for an action if they consider that they are not able to perform this action. However, even if a person is able to carry the action out, they will not be motivated if they believe that their action will have no visible result.
